CYNTHIA FEUSTEL is a traditional oil painter and portrait artist based in Colorado who has painted the human face and figure for nearly twenty years. She studied art at Penn State University before receiving her degree in Fashion Illustration from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. After following a career in graphic design she turned her attention to the fine art of classical oil painting.
Whether capturing an introspective moment of a figure or the quiet stillness in an arrangement of treasured objects, the sensitive rendering of her subjects compels one to become involved in her paintings and has garnered her many awards and recognition, among which are awards from Women Artists of the West (Best of Show), American Women Artists, NOAPS and Oil Painter’s of America.
Feustel’s paintings are exhibited across the U.S. in gallery and invitational shows including museum exhibitions at the Haggin Museum, Steamboat Art Museum, National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, Butler Institute of American Art and the Bennington Center for the Arts. She has been featured in Art of the West Magazine, Fine Art Connoisseur, Western Art Collector, Southwest Art and International Artist Magazine. Her work is represented by McBride Gallery and West Wind Fine Art.
Largely self-taught and fueled by the belief that one should never stop learning, Feustel is eager to share her knowledge and experience by mentoring others in traditional oil painting techniques. She works full-time as a commissioned portrait artist, still life painter and teacher in her Colorado Springs studio.
The extraordinary can be found in the seemingly ordinary that often passes by unnoticed. It is my intention to create an experience of visual harmony and give new insight into the beauty that abounds right within our grasp and line of vision. I am drawn to the narrative quality of these moments and paint to reveal their honesty and emotion.
